Supplemental Rules and Regulations

This information supplements the national rules as outlined in the NASA CCR. Safety is our number one priority. Drivers must comply with all rules and regulations and take personal responsibility for their actions. Drivers will receive penalties as per the outline below. Please read these rules and keep a copy with your gear.

1. NASA SoCal House Rules

• Drivers must report immediately to impound.
  • All race drivers must report immediately to impound after their qualifying session or race. Their cars shall not be serviced without the approval of a tech official. In impound, the only tasks drivers may perform are turning off cameras, and checking tire pressures. and opening the hood to allow for cooling. Drivers may not No one may perform any other tasks on the cars until released by the chief of tech, series leader, or race director.
    PENALTY: DQ for technical non-compliance.

• Drivers must check the accuracy of scoring results.
  • Drivers are responsible for accuracy of scoring results (name, class, team name, sponsor, etc.) after the very first session of their event is posted.
  • PENALTY: Any driver who requests changes after the weekend’s last on-track session will have to pay a $100 admin fee.
• Drivers must obtain contingency documents at the track.
  • Drivers are required to obtain contingency documents AT THE TRACK. Contingency will not be issued after the conclusion of the event.
• Drivers must display accurate weight and horsepower on both sides of the car.
  • All racing and Time Trial cars must display the accurate weight and horsepower for the class in which they are entered. Cars must display the weight on both sides of the car and it must be easily legible to tech inspectors.
  • Time Trial drivers may write the weight with clearly legible sharpie on 2-inch-wide masking tape affixed to both sides of the car.
  • Drivers who fail to display the weight or display inaccurate weight may incur penalties such as of loss of times for the session, and/or disqualification.
• Tech pricing/fees:
  • $10 event tech (HPDE/TT)
  • $20 annual logbook renewal
  • $40 new logbook
• No tinted film may be applied to any windows. Only a clear film may be applied. (tear offs)
• Southern California Endurance Racing Challenge (SERC) Rules 
  • The rules for SERC are the same as the rules for WERC, with one exception: There is a mandatory 5-minute pit stop per hour of racing. A team must complete one full lap between pit stops. SERC will use the same car classification system as WERC.
• In enduro races, drivers with provisional competition licenses may drive only during daylight hours. 

2. [20.3.1 Pre-Grid]
Racers and TT drivers MUST know their grid spaces before they arrive at pre-grid. When drivers arrive at pre-grid, the grid workers will ask for their grid space number and direct them to the correct spot.

• PENALTY> Failure to know your grid position will result in placement at the back of the entire group. If a driver arrives on grid with 5 minutes or less to the start of their session and does not know their grid position, they will be placed at the back of the entire group (if in Time Trial) or their race class.

3. [15.17 Driver’s Attire]

Drivers must wear required safety apparel when on track.

PENALTY> $100 safety fine and moved to HPDE for the remainder of the event.

4. [27.12] Drivers Points System per Appendix B [CCR 27.0] will be enforced.

Accumulation of ten (10) points in a season will result in suspension for the remainder of the season. All parties to any contact earn points. In addition to the conditions described in 27.12, the following conditions will also incur points:

• Blocking – two (2) points
• False Start/ Start Jumping – one (1) point
• Reckless & Dangerous (Black Flagged) – three (3) points
• Contact under any Yellow Flag condition – ten (10) points {immediate suspension}

5. 2023 Regional Championship Points

• [22.1 Season Points System]
  • In 2023, there are 19 races scheduled over the course of ten (10) events (nine (9) events plus the feature race at the National Championship). To be eligible for the regional championship, drivers must participate in one more than half the number of races that score points. In 2023, drivers must participate in at least 10 races.
  • Drivers will earn double points for races at ACS on Jan. 14-15, 2023, and at Chuckwalla on Oct. 28-29, 2023.
  • A series must have a minimum class size of an average of three (3) cars for the year. This applies to all series. 
  • Spec E46 and Spec E30 will also award points for their nine (9) qualifying races, for a total of 30 races in their regional points championship in 2022.
• [22.2 Dropping Race Scores]
  • Competitors may drop the four (4) of their lowest points-scoring races. This applies to all series.
• [22.7 National Championship]
  • NASA SoCal drivers who race in the feature race at the National Championship will earn points towards the NASA SoCal Regional Championship.

• [13.1.5] Enduro Teams: If you have a driver with a provisional or rookie license on your team, you must notify the tower when the driver gets in or out the car for any driving stint. This can be done by notifying a Pit Marshal of your car number, class and the name of the driver. Failure to notify the tower will result in the driver not receiving credit towards his or her competition license status for that race. No exceptions. 
• NASA SoCal House Rules: Enduro teams must hang placards with their car #, team name, and drivers’ names on the exterior wall. Teams will be responsible for attaching them to the wall with tape that’s durable yet easy to remove after the race is over. If there is damage to the wall, the team responsible for the damage will be obligated to pay for it. Teams must remove signage and tape by the end of the race. A team will incur a $100 fine for failure to do so.
