HPDE Group Definitions

HPDE 1: Novice. Instructor assigned, passing on main straights only.
HPDE 2: Beginner. Instructors optional, but encouraged. Passing on main straights only.
HDPE 3: Intermediate. Passing areas more liberal and increasing as day progresses.
HPDE 4: Advanced. Passing allowed anywhere using caution

Seeking an Asst. Chief of Tech

Are you a sports car-lover?

Would you rather spend your weekends at the race track than in your garage?

Do you enjoy working with cars and people?

If so, this is the job for you!

We need an Assistant Chief of Tech to help inspect cars that participate in our weekend events for safety compliance. Our Chief of Tech is willing to work with you and train the right person for the job. We host 7-10 events a year (typically once a month) at racetracks throughout Southern California.

Skills/Qualifications
  • Loves cars.
  • Possesses a solid mechanical understanding of cars and the tools used to work on them.
  • Employs positive, engaging interpersonal skills.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety inspections on cars and personal gear and document results.
  • Inspect cars for post-race compliance according to the NASA Club Codes and Regulations (CCR) and document results.
  • Inform Chief of Tech of results.
Additional Information
  • Must be able to read and understand the NASA CCR.
  • Must be able to get yourself to/from the racetrack.
  • We will provide lodging and daytime meals, as well as compensation.

Register for Motor Madness II

May 21-23, 2021 at Willow Springs International Raceway

WERC: 4 hours on Friday, May 21.

HPDE, Time Trial (TT), Road Racing, Enduro
Competition Drivers’ School — SOLD OUT

Registration closes at 9pm on May 18, 2021.

  • There is a discount for registering before May 7.
  • On May 7, the price to register for racing and WERC increases by $50.
  • After registration closes on May 18, you can only register on-site, at the track.
  • On-site registration prices increase by $50 for all categories.
TT Driver Screening
  • If you register for TT, you must be pre-approved by the group leader prior to the event or have a TT license.
  • If you do not have a NASA Competition License or TT license, you MUST e-mail Greg Greenbaum, [email protected], for screening and approval.

 

Tech Information

  • Tech will be available on Friday, May 21, at 4pm. WERC participants will have priority from 4-5pm.
  • Tech will be available on Saturday and Sunday starting at 7am. 
  • Fees:
    • 2021 Season Renewal (valid tech from 2020): $20.00
    • Initial Certification w/ Logbook: $40.00

Transponders
You need a transponder if you participate in Time Trial. Please provide number during registration, or rent one. Do not rent a transponder if you participate in HPDE 1-2, since you are not timed.

Competition Drivers’ School
Due to popular demand, we are offering a 2nd competition drivers’ school this year. Register now because it sells out fast!

The NASA Competition Drivers’ School (Comp School) is for experienced drivers who wish to obtain their NASA Provisional Racing License. The instructor-led training includes eight on-track and eight classroom sessions, as well as a final exam. Class limited to 30 students.

Eligibility Requirements

Proof of prior experience in one of the following:

      • HPDE 4
      • Time Trial
      • Open passing environment

Cancellation Policy

HPDE/Time Trial/Competition Drivers’ School/Open Track:
      • Full refund less $30.00 processing fee, with at least 1 week notice prior to the event.
      • No refunds or credits if you cancel less than 1 week prior to the event.
      • No refunds or credits if you have mechanical problems or your car does not pass tech inspection. No exceptions.
Race Groups:
    • If you registered at least 14 days in advance of the event AND notify us within 5 days after the missed event, we will carry over the fees to a future event without penalty or provide a full refund, less a $30 processing fee.
    • No partial refunds.
    • This policy does not apply to special events.
    • No refunds or credits if you have mechanical problems or your car does not pass tech inspection. No exceptions. Once the car hits the track all fees are non refundable.
